This particular site is a Christian oriented homeschooler's site, but she does not incorporate Christianity into the general courses. Her curriculum does have a section for Biblical teachings, but for the important parts, she does not. This site is perfect for a curriculum, which was my problem. I had no idea what I should be teaching my children or what they should be learning at their particular levels and this site is an awesome guide! Side Dish Recipe - Spicy Hasselback Potatoes
Spicy Hasselback Potatoes
(4-6 servings)
Ingredients
4 -6 medium potatoes
4 -6 teaspoons butter or 4 -6 teaspoons margarine, melted
Spice Topping
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 pinch cayenne pepper
Directions:
- The oven temperature will depend on what else you are cooking at the time (e. g. a roast).
- Anything between a moderate and high heat will be fine for these potatoes.
- Grease a baking tin or tray.
- Wash potatoes well but do not peel.
- Cut a thin slice from the base of each potato so that they will sit flat on a cutting board.
- Place a potato on the cutting board and lay a wooden spoon alongside the length of it.
- This stops you from cutting right through to the bottom of the potato.
- Now, using a sharp knife, held at right angles to the wooden spoon, thinly slice the potato but DO NOT CUT ALL THE WAY TO THE BOTTOM.
- (Think of the way garlic bread is sliced- that's the effect you're looking for.) Repeat until all potatoes are sliced in this way.
- Place potatoes into the baking tin.
- Now, using a pastry brush, brush butter or margarine over the top of each potato and use the brush (and your fingers) to carefully push some of the butter down between the slices.
- Reserve some butter or margarine to baste during cooking.
- Bake for around 45 minutes at 180°-220°C (350°- 425°F) before adding spice mixture.
- While the potatoes are cooking, combine the ingredients for the spice topping in a small bowl and mix well.
- After 45 minutes, brush the reserved melted butter or margarine over the potatoes then sprinkle the potatoes with the spice mixture.
- Return potatoes to the oven and bake for a further 15 minutes or until brown and crispy.
- (If the potatoes are not browning nicely after the first 45 minutes, simply increase the heat for the last 15- 20 minutes of cooking. If you are cooking a roast, you can time it so that you remove the meat to rest for 15-20 minutes before the potatoes are done).

Self Expression
As I sit here watching my children get ready for school: Yesterday, my daughter dressed herself in jeans and a skirt. Very punk rock-ish. Very cute, I have to add.
So today, she does it again. Black rocker jeans; black tee with neon peace signs; black, purple and pink checkered shoes; with a snow hat that has teddy bear ears and huge purple flower on it with fingerless purple gloves. Her nails are even painted a neon green. She is just adorable. I wish she would dress like this every day, but she doesn't.
You see, her tastes change almost daily. One minute she wants to be a tom-boy and play in the mud and climb trees while only wearing jeans and t-shirts. The next day, she wants to be a cheerleader and wear athletic clothing. The following day it's rocker style. My favorite is the rocker.
I really do try to encourage my children to express themselves. I think that her ever-changing tastes in styles is just a form of self expression. Her emotions change daily, therefore, her clothes reflect that. Self expression is a basic human right and for a parent to deny their child that basic human right is ridiculous. How else do they plan for their child to develop their personality? How else do they plan for their child to express creativity if they cannot even do it in the most basic form?
For added reference: my son's favorite color is pink. He wears pink shoestrings in his shoes and he never hears the end of it. But, he doesn't cave. I'm so proud of him! He stands his ground! He even wanted me to put pink hair stain on his head. I did.

Welcome!
Merry meet, everyone! As you have probably already read, I am a Pagan/Atheist who is a proud mommy! My children are 11 and 9 years old and they are my whole world! I have been married for 9 years to the most wonderful man that anyone could ask for! A little about this page:
1.) There may be postings about my religious beliefs or lack thereof. I do believe that the earth and universe is completely responsible for our being; not a deity.
2.) I will post random musings for entertainment purposes.
3.) There may be times when I talk about erotic things, such as books, movies, pictures and et cetera that I have seen, read, or liked on Facebook.
4.) Starting in January, I will be homeschooling. So, within this blog, there will be postings about things that I have come across for homeschooling parents simply because I can see already how hard it is to get started with homeschooling.
5.) I am a feminist.
6.) I am liberal.
7.) I am pro-choice and pro-equality.
8.) No racist, bigoted, hateful, non-factual things will be allowed on my blog site comments.
9.) If I share a picture, recipe, story or et cetera of someone else's domain, I will credit that person or page. If it is something of my own domain, it will be labeled as such. I would hope that if you were to share something that I have written or shared on my blog, that you would be so kind as to give me the credit, as I would give you.
I just simply wanted to get everything out in the open before I get started and someone decides to join our little community here. There will be some people who will not like the things I have to say and there are those who will. I want to make sure that everyone has a clear understanding of how my page will be ran.
